Marlene Sullivan
Ms. Sullivan began her pursuit of a teaching certificate when one of her children was diagnosed with ADHD and was also experiencing difficulties in school. She subsequently earned her Bachelor of Arts in Waldorf Education from the University of Detroit-Mercy and has earned additional endorsements in Science (grades 6-8), Social Studies (grades 6-12), and Reading Specialist. While still in college, she taught for three years at a private Waldorf school in Michigan. She spent one year as a literacy tutor working with students in grades Kindergarten through grade four. She moved to Arizona in 2006, accepting a teaching position at Mountain Oak Charter School. Over the next 12 years she taught all grades 1-8, except grade four. She then began teaching pre-algebra to 8th graders at Mile High Middle School. After four years, she taught one year in a fifth-grade classroom in the Humboldt School district. She returned to Mountain Oak in the fall of 2023 beginning with a first-grade class. Ms. Sullivan enjoys reading, gem mining, and travelling. But most of all, she enjoys spending time with her six daughters and nine grandchildren.
